Watch this space cos I’m gonna be chucking hot comics all over it.
Cactus Creative, the team behind a new arts centre in Kendal, Factory, along with The Lakes International Comics Art Festival, have commissioned me to create 10 permanent murals for one of their giant spaces in Factory.
I’m currently walking from Arnside to Carlisle, in North West England, over 100 miles across 10 legs. Those walls in the photos above that are seperated by iron girders? there’s 10 of those spaces. 1 mural per day of the walk. ‘Kin perfect, right? So perfect.
I’ve got previous with murals so I should be right. Might have to miss a couple of Bolton games but it’ll be worth it.
Also, that floor space in between the walls, all 7000 square foot of it? Watch that space too but I can’t say owt yet.
Colour me elated.
Finished pinup from Homesick Truant 2.
I don’t know what the collective term is for many level crossings, but I’m guessing it’s ‘shit loads’. Anyway, there are a bunch of them on my current Cumbrian pilgrimage and I wanted to record them in two-panel pages. But there are a few and this page layout may get jarring in among the rest of the narrative. So I’m toying with collecting all the level crossing portraits as ‘pinups’ at the end of issue. Like what normal comics do.
Feel free to tear them out and put them on your bedroom wall. Love a level crossing, me.
New cover for the second printing of Homesick Truant in process. I’m undecided about the windows in panel three and I might jazz up the text in the fifth panel. But this is pretty much done.
"Jazz up?" you ask? Technical term. You wouldn’t understand.
Pretty great week for comics in the mail. Top to bottom, left to right:
1) Warren Craghead’s 30 Days of Comics 2013 collection.
2) Untitled by Warren Craghead
3) The Homesick Truant’s Cumbrian Yarn #1 by Oliver East
4) December Remembers November by Tymothi Godek (also a #30dayscomics collection)
5) Black Pillars #2 by Andrew White
6) Original art by Andrew based on an autocomic I generated based on photos he took and text he wrote.
I recommend them all. But you followers all know who these guys are already, right?
Comic in progress. Some sure how much it will stay like this, but I thought it was worth saving/sharing.
Square format is because it’s for a publication, grid kind of inspired by Sol LeWitt photogrids.
